Big Elm Brewery
Big Elm Brewing’s name comes from Sheffield history. The oldest community in the Berkshires, tiny Sheffield has deep agricultural roots and its symbol is the Big Elm. This elm grew for over 400 years at the corner of Route 7 and Silver Street – just yards from the brewery. It had to be cut down in 1926, but lives on in the Big Elm Brewing’s logo. Each Saturday from noon to 4 p.m., owners Christine and Bill Heaton open the airy warehouse to the public, offering free tastings and tours. Big Elm sells their beer at the brewery and throughout Berkshire County
