Ashuwillticook Rail Trail – Pittsfield, Lanesborough, Cheshire, Adams, No. Adams, MA
The 14-mile Ashuwillticook Rail Trail wends its’ way through the back woods history and natural beauty of 5 Berkshire County communities, tracing roughly the same travel route Native Americans and later early settlers used centuries ago. It was an abandoned railway corridor that was then transformed into a paved trail for walkers, bikers, rollerbladers and xc skiers. Conversion of the Boston and Maine railway between North Adams and Lanesborough is a superb, low-impact way to reconnect residents and visitors to local history and the natural environment.
