Beginner’s Paddle: Decker Landing
Decker Landing, Lenox
Trip Length: 1-2 miles Level: Beginner (10+ years)

Gain confidence while enjoying paddling a stretch of the Housatonic River. Th is is your chance to learn how to safely enter and exit a canoe, learn the basic strokes and steer and paddle safely. Led by HVA volunteer Charles Murray, an experienced canoeist and ACA certified instructor.

Enjoy the sights and sounds of the evening and watch the moon rise as we paddle a flatwater stretch of the Housatonic River through the Darey Wildlife Management Area.

Housatonic River Family Paddle at Woods Pond, Lenoxdale

Get your family out for an afternoon of river exploration. We’ll paddle out and back
from Woods Pond, Lenoxdale. Th is stretch of the Housatonic River is flat and calm. There’s always a chance of seeing wildlife.

Stockbridge Paddle/Historic Merwin House Tour
Trip Length: 8.6 miles
Level: Beginner (10+ yrs)

Enjoy a leisurely paddle through Stockbridge along a meandering, slow-moving stretch of river that passes behind the Historic Merwin House. Afterwards, enjoy a
boxed lunch on the back porch of Merwin House, followed by a house tour. Cosponsored by Historic New England.  Lunch fee $25 members/$35 nonmembers.

Great Barrington Heritage Paddle
Bridge Street, Great Barrington

Get your family out for a day of river exploration. We’ll paddle from Bridge Street, Great Barrington to the Covered Bridge in Sheffield stopping for lunch on a sandbar where the Green River joins the Housatonic. This meandering stretch of the
Housatonic River is mostly calm with occasional quickwater and downed trees to negotiate.
